As the Skien Unwinds

FYI – I finished my first sock. Turning a heel is awesome, what can I say.

Just a reminder I will be away this weekend celebrating both Passover and Easter with my family and loved ones. So this means that I really won’t do a show this weekend. I hope that the wait won’t kill anyone. I have been looking at the knitting podcast world and have come to the realization that there is no real production schedule. But I will continue to try and make a show happen every Sunday that I can. (As long as my Pumkpin is willing to put up with this project)

I will be going to the Sheep Shearing Day at Gore Place in Waltham. I do not have any official status there… Actually I don’t have status anywhere but this website… but I hope to meet more knitters and perhaps get some new ideas for the show.

I am trying to put together a local (New England + MD + PA + DE + NY) event list. I will add it as a page here. So if you have an event you would like to promote, please drop me a line. If you don’t know how to drop me a line, please check out the “about” page.

Next week I will be discussing The Gore Place event, “Knitting Rules”, “Pointy Sticks”, Addi Turbos (they are so shiny), knitting on the bus and as always the weekly gab fest that I call “What’s on my Pointy Sticks”. I am looking for some resources about the following two topics for a future episode ENVIRONMENTAL KNITTING SENSITIVITY (Earth Day) and KNITTING ECONOMICS (Money well spent)

I used to live in Waltham (I went to Brandeis for college), and I always contemplated going to the sheep shearing festival at Gore Place. But last I looked there was an admission fee that I wasn’t willing to pay if I didn’t know that I was going to have a good time. I am looking forward to hearing if you found it fun/interesting.

I just subscribed this morning and so I am not caught up yet. I love the show so far. I haven’t tried a sock yet as I just learned how to knit. My pointy sticks currently have 2 scarves and a mess of what was supposed to be a bag using a basketweave stitch. I still need to get started on some dog sweaters to clothe the poor collies who have been or who are currently in a rescue group and have had to be shaved. (Poor naked babies). I am looking forward to our Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival on the first full weekend in May. I wonder if I can knit a dog sweater out of Collie fur??? hmmmmmmm

Environmental Knitting Sensitivity? Could you expand on this? I really have NO IDEA what you’re talking about here.

Money well spent: Yarn estate sales; Membership in a local handknitting guild. (To get inside info on the afore-mentioned yarn estate sales and/or discounts at LYSs. Woot! Woot I say!!!

I envy you a little bit, that you get to travel from one state to another with such ease. We here in TX have to plan a day trip to visit a different state.

Have a great Passover/Easter. God bless you!

I didn’t know how to say it exactly…

But I am looking for knitting resources that take into account environmental factors in their proccess. So places that make bamboo or hemp and are taughting the fact that these fibers may have a smaller environmental foot print than cotton and perhaps wool.

Which animal fiber has the smallest environmental impact.

    This kind of stuff…
