Yarn Crawl Questions

Hey all…

I thought that I would ask you, my listeners to create a list of possible questions as I continue to talk to the shop folk in my area.

So, you got any burning questions for my interviewees…

    Here are some question ideas:
How would you describe the unique personality of your yarn shop?
    What is your favorite fiber?
What do you think will be the next BIG THING in knitting?
    What’s your best selling yarn?
    Describe your worst customer.
How did you get into this business?
Do you still have any time to knit?
What’s the best thing about having a yarn shop?
What’s the worst thing about having a yarn shop?

Can’t wait to hear the interviews.

Hello Guido - I think this is a great idea!

Here is a question for your consideration:

How are you inspiring/inviting/encouraging new knitter’s (and/or crocheter’s) to start knitting?

    Thanks!

  3. Eric Says:

I like the questions posted above. I would also add

What is the oddest or most interesting question you have received?

How would other Yarn shop owners describe your store?

  4. stella from new zealand Says:

Guido, thanks for the great podcast, if you make and list a button, I would love to save it and post it on my blog with a link to your site. It could keep Brenda’s button company

  5. Gale Says:

I wonder why certain shop owners choose certain lines of yarns(other than the obvious - that they will sell).

  6. Jenn Says:

Do people refer to your business as if it were a hobby because you cater to “crafters”?
How much influence do sales reps have on what is available to consumers?
How early to you know what the hot new colors will be for the next season?
What are the trade shows (that are only open to industry people) like? How do they differ from Stitches or other open-to-the-public shows?

There’s a woman doing a podcast called “At the Yarn Shop” who is doing a great job. She’s only done 2 episodes so far, but they’re very interesting. I can’t find the link at the moment, but it’s in iTunes.

    found that show:

I can’t listen to it yet because I can’t stream the show at work. Oh well.

Thanks all for the questions, I will put some of them to use. I think that these interviews will continue to be a part of my show, but will not always be the central theme.
