    Fixed the iTunes…

  2. Love your podcast, one of my faves!
Referencing gift giving for guys. Things that I have knit for both my husband and male family members have been well received, I’m happy to say! The guys generally request more hats after receiving one which tells me that they are being worn. In addition to knitting things for my husband to wear I knit “notes” that I put in his lunch from time to time. As a matter of fact, this is where the “BORN TO IPOD” cloth design originated, I put it in his lunch one day as a surprise because My Man loves his IPods! I’ve knit fortune cookies and put “fortunes” in them to gift to him. It’s quite enjoyable to knit surprises for my husband. Knitting can be used in several ways, not just for wearables! I’m happy to say that he loves it all. My Man is not hard to knit for at all, thus far

  3. i’ve only given gifts to 3 guys: my dad, a dear friend, and my boyfriend.
being a craft whore (yeah, i said it) i’ve pretty much always given my boyfriend something i’ve made. and he’s always looked forward to receiving gifts from me.
the first thing i ever made for him wasn’t for him. it was for his mom. he asked me to make her a sweater for her birthday. she loved it, and that made him happy.
then i started making things for him.
the first thing i made specially for him, was an afgan. he wanted something to wrap up in (besides me) while watching tv or reading. i told him i’d make him something, but he had to pick the yarn and the colours.
we went to the yarn store and he was amazed at the variety. it was lots of fun picking out the yarn and putting together the colour combos.
this was 15 years ago, and he still has that afgan. he even took it with him when he went on a 3 year retreat.
when i started knitting socks, i made a pair for him. he says he’s never had socks before that fit him perfectly. (he might get another pair out of me, but not real soon.)
he lives in the sf bay area where it gets cold and damp, so he wears hats that i’ve made him. last year i made him a scarf that he says he wears in the mornings when he takes the ferry to work.
this year i started an entrelac afgan for him, but i’m not going to finish it by the holidaze, so i’m making him a scarf that’s a braided cable pattern. perfect for bay area mornings. the afgan will probably be a birthday present in january.
he’s the only guy i knit for, and because he’s seen me knit, he’s very appreciative of things i make for him. it’s fun to knit for him.
maybe i’ll teach him how to knit…

  4. Most of the gifts I’ve given to guys have been socks. They’ve all been very well received. My boyfriend has 6 pairs now and the 2 that I like best were little ankle socks for him to wear in the summer when he insists on wearing shoes. I made his dad a set of golf club covers last year for Xmas and he loved them. I’ve also made my Dad socks and my Mom says that they’re the only socks he’ll wear if they’re clean. This Xmas he’s getting a scarf (probably) and socks if he’s especially good ;-). I would love to do a sweater for the BF but he really dosen’t wear them that often (I guess I’ll stick to making him socks).

  5. Hey Guido –
I realized I gave you a bad link for my podcast and sadly the link is also wrong on my promo *aghast*. Check me out anyways.

    RE: Gift Giving For Guys
I have knitted and crocheted lots of things for guys so this will be a long list.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/snowmoon3/crochet-jessnahisharimvchuchie.jpg – The second scarf from the right was crochet as a Christmas gift for my mom’s fiance last year. He accepted it, said thank you, and I’ve never seen him wear it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/snowmoon3/knit-joshcazchristinetonyaalysson.jpg – The scarf on the left was knit for my friend Josh who is also a knitter. He loved it and wears it often. He knits but he is not as prolific as I am and he was impressed mainly because he doesn’t like to do large projects and he understood how much time had been spent on it. The scarf second on the left was knit for my friend Caz. He seemed to really like it and he put it on immediately. It was a Yule gift from last year and he had it out again and was wearing it last Sunday. He pointed out to me that he had it on and it made me very happy.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/snowmoon3/mvhat.jpg – This hat was crocheted as a birthday present for my mom’s fiance. It got a slightly better response than the scarf but I’ve never seen him wear it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/snowmoon3/100_0362.jpg – This was crochet for my girlfriend’s brother who is a runner and doesn’t like to wear hats. He seemed to appreciate the thought but I’ve never seen him wear it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/snowmoon3/100_0363.jpg – This hat was crochet for my girlfriend’s father for Christmas last year. He said thank you and then tried it on and it didn’t fit. oops.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/snowmoon3/scarves-uncleoandjayme.jpg – The scarf on the left was knit as a Christmas gift for my uncle. He kind of ignored it.

http://snowmoon3.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html – This scarf was knit for my girlfriend’s other brother as a Christmas gift. He seemed rather impressed with it when I gave it to him but I’ve never seen him wear it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/snowmoon3/crochet-seamonsterdildocozy.jpg – This dildo cozy was requested by my friend Chuck and I gave it to him for his birthday. He was very excited about it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/snowmoon3/knit-tylersblanket.jpg – This is a baby blanket that I knit for my cousin Tyler. His mom really appreciated it. She was especially emotional because her late mother is the one who used to make baby blankets for folks in our family.

Enjoy the pics. oh, and it isn’t single malt crochet. it’s just a single crochet which is what the one loop stitch is called. when you wrap it twice, that’s double crochet. you’ll get there. ;)

  6. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the structure of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?

  7. magnificent issues altogether, you simply received a new reader. What could you recommend about your submit that you simply made a few days ago? Any positive?

  8. That’s attractive, precisely what I’d been trying to find. It made my day to discover it outlined in ordinary terms right here. I’m absolutely registering to this site. My good friend shall be happy to join as well, I’m sure you do not mind :) Do great.
