zzzz…. zzzz…. represent…

Best Knitting Event Ever!

OK…

I just got back from a day long knitting extravaganza in NYC. It’s almost one in the morning and I need to crash soon. But I would love to give you the quick run down and give anyone I met a chance to remind me of their name and knit blog… because now it is all a blur, and I don’t want to forget anyone…

So, Kim and I had a bumpy start. We got to Stamford at 10:30pm and didn’t get to bed until midnight. Although I set my alarm for for 4:00am, I did not wake up until 4:50… oops…

So we were off and we caught the express to Grand central and arrivd at rockefeller center at 6:55, a little later than planned, but we were off.

Good news is that we were not the only knitters who showed up to represent at the Today show. We ran into Kathy and Kris (woolybuns) in the line to get into the plaza where the taping took place. Somehow they let me through with the huge map and some tent poles (so much for the metal detecors). We spent the morning at the Today show hanging out with Kathy, Kris, Marni, Dale, and a lady with a knitted Rodney the knitted rat.. it was awesome. People did stream in as the morning drew on (Pam & Debrah). Can’t wait to see what a goof I look like on t.v. when I get to my tivo on Sunday. If anyone has the video, please post a link to it in the comments
After the show (more on what happened at the show later) we were joined by Jennifer at Whole Foods. It was a great hour and a half to talk…. which was followed by a awesome trp to Harlot in th Park, which was then followed by a trip to the museum (adding on more people, someone from VA who bended Narl, some one from the hamptons, someone from Jersey City, and one last person who I did not get to spend enough time with)

Yeah… this is going well… ok fast forward… School Products… Cashmere (cheap and lots of it)… Habu for some…. FIT… Harlot … Chinese Food… Walk to Grand Central… snooze on train… now

More detail to come over the weekend, but if you ran into me somewhere in those elipses feel free to fill in the blanks….

All and all… My faith in Knitters (from everywhere) is at an all time high. I had great conversations and connections all day long. I was overwhelmed by the love shared by everyone and ……………………………………………..

*crash*

*snore*

*sleep*

*AWESOME*

I hope that I can see the video, someway, somehow. Glad things went well. Please do tell the complete story!

Great to meet you, man! If only for a few brief moments on the stairs, you and your friends were a much welcome sight! How *awesome* was that?!? I got in around 11:30, so it wasn’t too bad. Still need a coffee run like I need air. Wonderful, WONDERFUL time!!! —–> From the slightly tipsy gal from Montgomery, NY…

Looks like you guys had a blast! St. Louis was having their own Knitting Guild event yesterday (see my blog) so at least I felt like I was with the New York CIty go-ers in spirit! Because I was going to knitting workshops yesterday instead of to work, I did manage to catch part of the Today show, but I didn’t see you guys. From other people’s pics, it looks like you were on just after I had to leave. :( & I don’t have Tivo, so I’m hoping someone posts video online.

  5. Debbie Says:

I TIVOed the show, but due to severe storms by us (north central Indiana) I was only able to catch one (ONE…JUST ONE!!!) glimpse of your cool poster, and not you at all! Really, is it so important to tell us (and tell us and tell us and tell us) that it’s raining, when we can just look outside and see it?? So, bottom line, I didn’t get to see much of you and your cool poster and entourage, so I want to see any other video that exists…

I set my clock for 6:00AMand got up just to see you guys. I am retired and never get up early, so you can tell how important this was to see. I watched all the dumb commercials ( every 6 seconds) and waited and waited, and WAITED. Finally at about 9:00 something, they came back from yet another commercial and they were panning across the crowd. I saw your orange hat and a part of the big sign. I also saw a smaller sign that said Harlot Hoard, and then they panned on by. I was soooo dissapointed that they didn’t stop to talk. I don’t like that show anyway, so what can you exspect?????
Glad you had a fun day and wish I could have come with all my HOME GALs from Columbus OHIO.

On March 22nd, we sooooo REPRESENTED knitters in NYC! The best part besides seeing Stephanie and Jayme? Meeting everyone up close and personal everywhere we went. Thanks for a fabulously AMAZING bunch of memories!
    Bunny hugs,

It sounds like you all had a great time. It will always be a fun day for you to remember. Often I don’t go to things because of the effort that’s involved in getting “there”. But the effort is so worth it for the experience and memories. Look forward to hearing more of the details.

  9. Sarah Says:

I DVRed Today and saw you guys at 8:30 and 9:00 — you guys looked great! (And super-awake for having gotten up so early, I gotta say!)

  10. Tracey in Michigan Says:

Good morning- sunshine—- so when we get the scoop?

  11. Mary Says:

I kept looking for media reports of the Invasion Of The Knitters in NY yesterday, was disappointed not to see anything. Thank you so much for posting this, now I’ll try to find some video. Can’t wait for your more detailed accounts! I feel like you represented for those if us unable to fly to NY for the event.

I wish I could have hung out in NYC longer last night and gone out drinking…but I didn’t get home until just after midnight! I was wiped, but it was worth it! What a day! Meeting soooo many wonderful people in the park. The sock photo shot around the Imagine circle, the walk in the park, the museum, the shopping, the Harlot! And all the people! Loved meeting you in person G, so awesome! And I’d love to hear more about some kind of retreat/get together event!

I snapped some shots of the tv. They are here: http://kundhicreative.com/lincolnblog/?p=160. I still have the show on my DVR, but I don’t have anyway to get the video to my computer. Sorry!

  16. Mary Says:

It was terrific meeting you! I have some pictures up on my blog:

It was great to meet you and hang out for a bit Guido! The sign was awesome and it was an amazing day (despite having to run back and forth to work for me anyway). Can’t wait to see more pics and, quite frankly, get some more sleep! :)

It looks like everyone who Represented had a wonderful time. Your sign was great, too. I am totally jealous except that I am going to see the Yarn Harlot herself on April 4th in Saint Paul. Hopefully, we’ll be able to measure up!

P.S. Love the final seconds of the podcast. I never get up right away to switch to another podcast (I listen on my stereo via Ipod) and you were such a surprise! That would be a great download to listen to when I’ve had a hard day of rippit, rippit, rippit.

  20. Kat Says:

Wish I could have been there. Alas work obligations prevented me from attending. They also prevented me from watching the Today show. Looking forward to hearing more about it, and hoping there are clips.

  21. Jennifer Says:

Best day ever! I had so much fun, and am absolutely exhausted. I’m not used to so much talking/walking/laughing! So happy to meet everyone, and I thank you all for a great day!

  22. frecklegirl jess Says:

Seems like everyone had so much fun! Thanks for letting us folks at home how it went. :)

  23. Allena Says:

It was really cool meeting you. I just subscribed to your podcast and have really enjoyed the first two episodes.

  24. Christine Says:

So glad you made it to School Products! You cannot understand how much I love that store. I wish I would have run into you–I was there last night too. I posted pics on my blog…http://sheskrafty.blogspot.com :-)

  26. Sharah Says:

I got up at 7 am to watch the Today Show on Thursday, and started squeeing when I saw you guys! I was so disappointed in Al Roker for not talking to you guys… and since they didn’t get a nice shot of the sign, which was a real bummer. But it sounds like you guys had a lovely time anyway! If there is ever an event like this again, I will try to get to it myself! :)

  27. Sunidesus Says:

My blog is being ornery, but once I figure out what it’s problem is I’ll be able to upload a higher quality version of this, but for now YouTube will have to suffice!

    Represent!

I’ll leave another comment once I can get my blog to behave. I have a higher resolution version, I just can’t post it to YouTube.
