iapm32:Harlot in the Park
So… Kimberly and I represented all day and this show is about found on this amazing day in NYC!!!
I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the day and new friends who gave me so much to share with everyone. If I missed you in this show, if I forgot your name, if I am totally mis-representing anything… It’s probably from lack of sleep and I hope you understand.
Please… please… please keep in touch and let my listeners share in your experience by linking to anything you have posted about in the comments.
Knitters Unite… Thanks Harlot… Best Knitting Day Ever…

Great show!
What a blast! Let’s do it again for Stephanie’s visit to WEBS, or for NHSW, or maybe MDSW… ;)
Bunny hugs,
=:8
Thanks for the great podcast…sigh…I so wish I could have been there. It sounds like you had an awesome time. Keep up the great work!
Great job of bringing REPRESENT to those of us who didn’t go to NYC. That’s one of the things that makes your ‘cast fun to listen to: you go places, talk to people, ask weird questions, be yourself.
Wow. What a great telling of the day. I am proud of you guys. You definitely represented. It was especially fantastic to hear all of the knitters at the beginning.
Awesome show! Made me feel like I was almost there with you! I can’t wait to see the banner and hopefully have it on display when Stephanie comes to Northampton. It was absolutely incredible to see you on TV.
It was so hysterical when you called me in the middle of the day (by accident, meaning to call someone else) and we were talking for at least a minute or two and neither of us knew who we were talking to. Then, once we both realized, we tried to make it seem like we DID know and that the call was MEANT to be. I’m still giggling about that. You saying “1210″ and me saying “What?”, “Who is this?”. . . . .classic.
Thanks so much for your coverage of the Represent Event, it nearly made up for not being there. Great to put some faces to names too. What a day!
Love and best wishes from across the Atlantic.
Great show! Thanks for bringing the feeling to those of us who couldn’t make it. I was listening to your show in the laundromat, and people kept looking at me funny because I was laughing out loud. And knitting. Silly muggles.

The Harlot’s talk really got me thinking about stereotypes. I’ve always had a PAWDUK philosophy (Pity All Who Don’t Understand Knitting), but stereotypes certainly do build barriers for all of us. I think the sense of community at the FIT really showed what a diverse set of people we are, even if we are all knitting fanatics. I put up a “Virtual Cappuccino” podcast episode with my impressions (download on iTunes, podcastalley.com or at http://web.mac.com/tactilet). Your podcast really gave people the flavor! Thanks, 2skiens, you make the knitting world a better place.
Great show Guido! Lots of great memories from that day. I was the one at the end of the table at dinner (across from Kimberly) in the fair isle sweater. It’s the Fairly Easy Fair Isle from Stitch ‘n Bitch Nation. I commented on the picture you have with me in you flickr group too. I guess I felt like I knew you since I’ve listened to the show so much (and love it!). Thanks for doing what you do. It was great to meet you. Hope to see you again at a future gathering.
Great show. Thanx for sharing your day with us.
I’d be another one who can’t wait for the WEBS event because I can go to that one!
Great show – I liked hearing the voices of so many knitters! I can’t help but notice you sounded a little disparaging about the coffee syrup, though . . . have you tried some? It’s wicked good.
I loved the show–funny to hear myself! I think the “Jersey Girl” you were talking about is Heather. And the woman from the Hamptons is Kathy. (we lunched together at “Supermac”–a highly-recommended macaroni and cheese restaurant near FIT. Anyway, again, great day. Lot’s of fun!
Hi – just stopped in to hear your podcast – thank you! what a nice site! I think I will visit more often!
FINALLY!!!! I have been searching the web ALL weekend looking for represent coverage. Thank you so much for your great coverage. I was telling my knitting group (we meet on Thursday’s so we mini-represented in Grosse Pointe, MI) about the event. If I can figure out how to get your pod cast down-loaded to my computer (little technology challenged) I will bring it to our next meeting to listen to.
Well, I’m the gal from North Carolina with the Knitted For Homeless sign at the TODAY show. You guys were real troopers to be able to stand on that hard sidewalk for both hours!!! My feet hurt too bad so I had to leave early.
Great seeing you at Strawberry Fields. We certainly did have a great time – didn’t we?
And Stephanie’s talk was great.
Hope we can do this again sometime – it was so special!! I got some great photos too. One is of three knitters realizing that Stephanie just put her foot in the circle!!

I am so glad you mentioned being out on the shore while taping the podcast. Up to that point, I kept hearing a strange noise in the background (seagulls) and convinced myself you had a monkey or two.
Looks like a fantastic day. I was so excited to see you on the Today show: I’ve just been shouting at the computer “there’s Guido’s charlie brown hat!”
Hi, followed a link from Yarn Harlot… Thanks for this podcast. A group of us from MA were going to pop down to NY, but being grad students couldn’t squeeze out the time to go. I’ll be sure to make everyone aware of your podcast at our SNB this evening. Wish I had been there, and it sounds like you had an awesome time. See you at WEBS in May!
Thanks for a great show. Wish I coulda’ been there. Sounded like it was a blast and a half!
Thank you so much for this pod cast. Us west coasters were at a slight disadvantage for being in New York, but it was nice to feel like I was there via the wonders of technology. Thanks Purl Man!
hi! was listening to the podcast on my way to work this morning, and you and kimberly made me feel famous!
thank you for disparaging my name, and then hastily making up for it, i swear i was only trying to be nice – i have no designs on your stash.
it was so great to recognize voices of people i had met that day and relive it all over again. please let me know when you start your bias fair isle – i’ll talk you through it. you can do it!!!
Hi Guido!
I wanted to stop by and say that I have just started listening to your podcasts and am enjoying them very much. I love that you interview a lot of people, it is so great to hear podcasts that have that back-and-forth discussion quality (when it’s a single voice I often feel like a magazine is talking at me), and also, you have an awesome theme song. It’s been in my head for days.
Hi, Guido!
I’m the Emily from Philly you interviewed. Nice to meet you!
I just got high-speed internet yesterday and was able to (finally) start downloading and listening to podcasts- I listened to your Harlot podcast today – great fun! I really enjoyed it. Thanks! (pretty freaky that lady coming up to you guys on the beach while recording!)
I’ve only recently decovered your podcast and I wanted to say how much I enjoy listening. I was not able to attend Harlot in the Park but having your pod cast about the event was wonderful. I look forward to downloading your past podcasts to catch up. Keep up the good work. Your podcasts are really nice to knit to.
I wanted to be in NYC. Your podcast, describing the events of the day, was wonderful.
I will be seeing Stephanie 2 times is less than a week AND in two different countries in June and I feel like (a soon to be 68 years old) groupie. We will see her first in Victoria, BC @ the Fibre Arts FAIR . Have already entered my name for 2 tickets to be held for us. I will fly back to Sea-Tac and catch a flight from there to Anchorage, where my youngest daughter lives (and is based for Alaska Airlines) and will hear and see Stephanie at the Tidal Wave Book Store. I was up there last week and told a couple of the employees there they would need to have a lot of room for her and told them how many were expected to come see her in NYC
I wasn’t finished when I held a keeeeeey down too long. Thought I was going to lose all my text.
Anyhow, I can’t wait to meet the Yarn Harlot. I would love to bring all my friends with me. Am looking forward to making new ones in Victoria and Anchorage. The owner of the yarn shop I went to in Anchorage(twice in the 3 days I was there) has heard of the Yarn Harlot and one of the other ladies who was in the shop also and they might get over to hear her.
Guido, thanks again for the podcast. I really did want to go to NYC, but I’m not retired yet and couldn’t take off that much time all at once or try making another trip from Sea-Tac

Just looked at Kimberly’s blog and saw the picture with the sign. Definitely the best sign ever taken to The Today Show.
Hey there!
I am a big ibg fan of your podcast! THanks to the Yarn Harlot, I surfed over here the other day and I haven’t been able to leave!!
Keep it up!
Simply AWESOME! Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication to making us feel that we were there with you!
Hey Guido, thank you so much for this little piece of REPRESENT in NYC!! It is nice for those of us who live on the LEFT side of the country to get a taste of this amazing event :)
Awesome show! Thank you for sharing…
Great blog! Great podcast! I listen to all of them everyday at work. Keep it up.

Hey, I didn’t make the podcast. Sigh. :-(
