Holiday Knitting Approaches

So not to spook you, but… Next week is ten weeks from Christmas.

This can me:

  • It’s time to get you projects going
  • It’s time to pick some holiday projects
  • It’s time to buy some knitting gifts for friends
  • It’s time to buy yourself some nice knitting gifts to sneak into the pile of gifts (he with the most gifts wins)

In this vain I am going to try and help people out in two ways:

  1. I will be giving away a free books each week from now until Christmas
  2. I will be incouraging you guys to knit some items for charity

I Bet you didn’t see number two comming. I know that I didn’t. I guess in a way I would like to start a knit along that contributes to charities. All knitting charities are good, but since the weather is getting colder in N.E. I am going to be working on some kid clothing and adult hats to keep people warm this winter.

So I will work to help give out some books that will inspire you to knit something for a loved one or charity, you guys get out there and knit until the cows come home.

So this week, if you feel so inclined, comment to this post with a charity knitting pledge and I will put you in a drawing for a free book on Sunday’s show. This is an honor system, but if you complete your pledge come back and comment about it again showing us what you have done.

My First Baby Suprise

Baby Suprise

I just got this picture in an email from my friend who received the baby suprise.

My pumkin always noted that the sleeves always seemed a bit too small, now looking at the image of the garment in use, I have to agree. It’s looks like it’s some sort of sweater t-shirt. Which is not bad, just not right either.

So there you have it, my one FO in a long time.

In other news: With the holidays fast approaching I have decided I want to help others by sending them books filled with ideas. (Or you could read this as… some publisher sent me a lot of books, and I think I should share). At any rate… There will be a drawing every week that I have books to give from here until December. So listen in to find out which book is up for grabs.

Show Notes

In order to improve the show I need a little more time. I will am now officially on a Bi-weekly schedule until I can get a little more time. So with a little time and love the show will begin to blossom.

So as a teaser here are some of the shows coming up:

Pocamp: These people know knitting?
EZ does it, all: How do I love thee, let me count the way
Boston Yarn Crawl 6: Windsor Buttons
Knitting Out Loud: Interiews from the field

I am also starting a new series about knitters who stand out. My first interview is done and I have many on the way.

So please bear with me as I try to make this show shine. This show is one UFO that refuses to return to be froged.

As always, thanks for listening,
Guido

tightly knit podcasters

I am at podcamp this weekend. I am learning about how to make my show better. The people here are great and really excited about knitting , I think I have made a few converts.

The biggest lesson pushed here is that you should communicate with your audience. So I wanted to let you know that I love all of you and can’t wait to do the next show tonight. Also, please send me feedback so that I can know more about you.

More yo come tonight, when I am at a real computer and not just writing from my treo.

Non-Knitting Matters

Hey all… Sorry about the lack of show this week. I have been trying to put the show together, but have too many other things that need to get done at work and for the Boston Knit Out (you’re all coming, right?)

Anyhow, I realized that I hadn’t said anything and was feeling like a bad boyfriend. You know, the kind who doesn’t communicate but expects you to understand. I am not that guy… But I am the type of guy who finishes a baby suprise and then in an atempt to feel like I have accomplished something send it off to a baby far away without taking pictures.

So I will ask Joe to send me a picture of Rene wearing the baby suprise. If it fits her. Ugh… HOw do you make sure ehat you make fits kids, they are always growing and you never know when the gift will be at the right place for the kid. Oh well… We’ll find out soon enough.

On the next show I will yarn-a-lot about the Boston Knit Out and Crochet Too… I will talk about my EZ obsession… and perhaps I can get my punkin to talk about her recent knitting obsession.

Have a good week. I will be back. Perhaps I should just accept that I may be a bi-weekly show for a while. Is that OK with you?

Flash your knitting bags drawing

I have a little pencil case in which I cary:

  • Many circular needles
  • Spare knitting marker
  • pair of scissors
  • Guage counter
  • tape measure
  • double pointed needles
  • crochet hooks, one large and one small

Sadly, I left my little case at circles two weeks ago, and I have been feeling very naked without it.

This sense of nakedness has reminded me that I need to make a new tool kit to hold all my goodies. One that screams GUIDO and that I would never misplace. One that would somehow be a part of a project bag.

In this vain I would like to invite you to flash your bag to me. In return for helping me gain some inspiration to make a bag for myself(non-floral and all) I will enter you in a drawingfor a copy of Greetings From Knit Cafe (which I reviewed w/ David in episode 12).

Here is how this drawing will work, post a description of what tools and baguage (knitting realted, emotional is optional) you travel with in the comments as well as a a link to a picture of your bag/contianer in all it’s glory. I will then put all the names I recieve into a knitting bag and draw the name of the winner.(offer available where legal…yadda…yadda…yadda…) the winner will be anounced in episode 16.

Comment Spam…

I don’t know why, but I am currently under attack by comment spammers. This blows.

Anyhow, I will have full show notes up tonight for the show. I got caught up in a wonderful afternoon and evening with my pumkin last night and didn’t feel like firing up the computer.

Have  great day and don’t forget to send in some knitting jokes for the itty bitty Hat book drawing.

Hold on a minute

Hey all…

No show today. Sorry. I could give you the laundry list, but will spare you.

Basically, I have one to many thins on my needles of life and am slowly clearing these things up.

I really love doing the show and will get back on a regular schedule soon, but please bear with me for a little. In the mean time I have set up some fun interviews so that when I do get back you will have a chance to here more about the knitting revolution world in Boston.

Thanks for listening
