taking the week off

I’m proud of the recent consistancy to the show. But I need a week off.

Soon I will be winding down a bit for the summer, perhaps an every other week schedule will come into play again. we’ll see.

In the mean time… I am starting a summer hope chest knit along… so if any of you artsy people in the crowd feel like making some badges please post them on your blog and let me know about them in the comment notes.

The Live show take 3

OK… so I like the live show format. Really, I just like having you all around while I put the show together. It makes it a hell of a lot more fun. Also, I like chatting with people in the music breaks.

With all that said I want to remind everyone that I will be having another live show for:

11:00AM EST

This show will be co-hosted by my super cool guest about a topic I think many of you know is comming (listen to my last show for more info). There will be a live drawing for people who are a part of the audience as well as a 50th episode drawing for people who have either google mapped their LYS (see last two shows) or sent in suggestions for a clips show (which is on hold because it’s even herder to piece together than I thought.

In the future I think I will start to do live shows every tenth episode. If we are lucky I will be able to do a live show with an actual live audience some day, which will mean total mayhem.

Looking forward to another 50 epsodes with all of you, if I get to 100 we will have to have a part in Boston which includes a massive fiber crawl. I can’t wait… can you…

Saturday Evening Live 03-08-08 17:00EST

I’m going to have a two year podcast birthday party next week and you are all invited. I have a special guest coming over to my house to celebrate with me. We will be talking about knitting, design, india, chopped bicycles, tree knitting, and abuse of a serger.

The anniversary show is going to be live, next Satruday, March 08th at 5:00pm EST. So come on by to my live channel and check it out.All you need is a web browser and a flash player (it’s free and self installs).

Join the fun of a live recording of the show. We will have some live drawings for a book an some notions. There is a chat room and if you have a video camera you too can stream.

I hope you decide to join me on Saturday for the fun. I look forward to chatting/seeing you there.

Also, so I hav an idea of how many cupcakes to make(wink), please RSVP in the comments.

Fair warning

When I started podcasting I was inspired by the many radio shows I listen to on NPR. In many ways I still want to be the Ira Glass of the knitting podcast revolution. I have always tried to find something that connects us all as knitters to each other. Behind the yarn, needles, projects, and general madness there is something stronger that bonds all of us. And it is in this bonding agent that I draw the inspiration to continue to put together these shows.

So, I have been struggling on trying to put together a show based on a long interview that I had done with a friend. At first I tried to split up the story and add some music and add my narrative to the mix. I really wanted to give it the This Life treatment (they are so clever at bringing out emotion with music). But after hours and days of editing and piecing I have come to the conclusion that this does not do it justice.

Production values aside, the story that my friend tells is a personal story and one that engaged every bit of me without my tinkering. So I have given up my NPR dreams and am going to put this story up in as simple a way that I can. I am not going to edit it down much and I am not going to narrate.

So tonight I am going to post up the first half of this story and it is going to be an hour or so long and it is going to be a chance for you to hear from my friend about the knitting/shop owning life that she has lead. I ask you to oblige me the inconvenience of the large file and suddle edits and hope that you enjoy these two episodes as much as I enjoyed them.

In order to not break the mood (and save some time) in these episodes I will not be doing any yarn-a-lot or any of the other normal things I do. I will however announce a winner to the drawing on my blog and comment a bit on what people have posted.

With that… I give you fair warning, the next two shows will be long and worthwhile. I hope that you can find a nice quite space where you can listen to them in there entirety.

The Chill in the air

In case you don’t know, it’s starting to get cold in Boston. This usually means three things

  1. The leaves will change
  2. The Red Sox will be the cause of severe drinking (whether they win or loose)
  3. It’s time to find more time to knit (and podcast)

Starting next week I will be going back into a regular schedule. I will be looking for new knitting stores to interview in the Boston Area. I will cast on a new project for my little nephew. I will find some more pictures to share.

So… send me some emails and comment like crazy because I want to know what you all have been up too while I have been getting married. I miss you and can’t wait to catch up.
