When the sheep come home

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

hey… you… you with the teeth. You still reading/listening to this blog. Well… It’s good to see that you are still there. Sometimes I forget you are there because I get wrapped up in work and life and blah… blah… blah… you get the idea.

Anyhow, I wanted to let you know that this here podcaster is not taking a break and that there are more shows on the way. It has just been a while since I had time to rub together to put a show out.

This weekend my mother is coming up for our pseudo annual trip to NH Sheep and Wool. I look forward to showing her all the progress I have made on her sweater, it’s only taken three years.

We will put together a show with interviews that I did at NENA last week.

Next week I am going to put out a second episode in the middle of the week about the MA Sheep and Wool. I really enjoy going to that show with my pumkin wife and am going to try and share with you a little pre-show goodness.

I haven’t forgotten about you and I am not podfagding (please it’s been less than a month).

Also, if I owe you an email… sorry… can’t get to it.. I will catch up in June, I promise… :)

Passover Break

FYI episode 50 live, went well. I am running behind in putting the show up because I have had some passover events the last couple of nights. I will get the show up ASAP. It’s really good and my guest Susan B. Anderson was awesome.

WWKIP June 14 2008

Friday, March 28th, 2008

So… who’s up for another WWKIP in Boston?

Copley was a good space last year, perhaps we can try doing it there again this year, hopefully the weather will be nice and we can all be outside instead of in the food court, but the food court did have food… yum…

Perhaps this year we can man a learn to knit table as well?

Perhaps we can knit in public in the morning and then have an afternoon yarn crawl? Plenty of places down town and then on the red line?

I will start a poll if people leave comments saying that any of this would be something they would like to do.

Let me know what you think Boston.

Won’t you wear a sweater day

Just found out about this today and am feeling a bit ill…. so this, 15minutes prior, is the frist I can get to letting you know about it.

Needless to say, I love Mr. Rogers. Good guy, all around… Protected children and adults in the fabled betamax supreme court hearings.

You Are 40% Massachusetts

You could pass for being from Massachusetts - until you open your mouth and start pronouncing R’s.

How Massachusetts Are You?

Thanks to Lucy for turning me onto this silly test. I am so embarrassed now, I guess my roots are showing.

I guess I’ll go park my car in Harvard Yard. (darn it I pronounced all the Rs)

Testing Livenessness

Friday, February 29th, 2008

This is a test of the It’s a Purl, Man broadcast system. Had this been a real emergency you would be directed directly to your LYS for more yarn.

If you happen to be around tonight or tomorrow morning you may see me testing this little plug in or actually pushing out the live show. If this is not working for you you can also try the YAHOO! LIVE CHANNEL

I don’t get it

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

A friend of mine who was traveling the country recently, go Daria in ‘08, let me know that there was a lot of fury around an article in the January 2nd Philadelphia Weekly about kniters. (I do not want to link there, read on).

The article reads very strangely, it starts off expressing that it’s annoying when people are so nit picky and defensive about location and then it goes on to say that there is a new wave of defensive nit picky freaks, the knitters. (OK) Then the article complains about the lame assumption that knitting is punk and uses to books to prove their argument (sorta) and then just thrashes knitting and all people who enjoy knitting and crocheting (I guess crafters) in general.

OK, I don’t want to link to the site because I do not want to be responcible for giving this crap any more due than it deserves. Readers are exactly what they want, so if you go to the website and read this article you are in giving this persons article more popularity and I don’t really want to suggest that you go read this, it’s not a very good article in general, let alone what you think about knitting/crocheting/punk/hipness/motherhood… etc.

Here is my thought though, why get defensive at all. The author of this piece seems to be angry about something, but I don’t know what? Is it really that offensive that knitters feel cool or punk? Is it really that hard to believe that cool people and punks knit?  Has this person been tied to a tree by knitters and been giving a bad sweater to wear? I don’t get it?

What is it about knitting/crocheting that threatens other people?

Anyhow, just thought I would let you all know about this if it is of interest to you. Sadly, people did write in and were very defensive about this article… But I think I am totally missing the point of the article… I read it as … knitters are very defensive, and I will go ahead and make fun of them, and what give them the right to think that they are punk in the first place.

It’s on, and it’s live
