Some help please

Hey all…

I need help collecting images. So in my usual fashion I have a final week crunch on a project and I need help from you gals/guys. I am presenting on Saturday about knitting lessons learned and how they relate to podcasting and the creative process. Here are some of my points currently:

  • Fiber is everywhere and in so many different types
  • Everyone can knit
  • Projects are unique in fiber, color, and pattern
  • You don’t have to knit a sweater or Sock knitters are everywhere
  • Dropped Stitches happen
  • Who are your projects for
  • UFO’s run free in every knitters house
  • Knitting circles are important to your sanity

If you have any photos you feel would relate to these topics please send me a link or the photo either commenting to this post or sending me an email at podcast-at-itsapurlman-com.

Thank you in advance, I will be sure to share with you all how the presentation goes.

Strong Bad Email Scarf

Shape shifting into a scarf

Strong Bad Email has been a staple of internet entertainment for a while. The shows are pretty geeky and funny and totally pointless. Somehow they keep developing these weirdo little characters into a world full of marshmallows.

Anyhow, I was watching one of the recent shows (here) and Strong Bad was talking about the rules of shape shifting. One of the rules he through out was about turning into grandmother’s knitted gifts, which I thought was funny. but then when at the end he changed into a scarf.. that’s when I decided I had to blog about it.

Ok.. so this means… it’s a slow week/month and this contitutes more knitting awesomeness.

Also… in case I forgot to post this a long time ago when i found it… knitting is a part of the first penny arcade comic strip as well.

Boston Handmade and some other notes

First, an announcement:

Boston Handmade Marketplace

Union Square ~ Somerville, MA

Saturday, June 28 ~ 3pm to 7pm

This event should be a lot of fun. it’s happening in m neighborhood, but sadly I think I have to go to a company picnic. But you should check it out if you are in Boston. Jessica, the ring leader, is a powerful fore of creativity and has a wonderful website the shows off many projects that are done by her group.

So other notes…

I was on the phone with a friend yesterday talking about the show and knitting, and I realized that I hadn’t done much of either in a while. It made me kinda sad.

It’s not that I have dropped of the face of the earth. I still get out to a lo of events locally, I just haven’t felt the creative juices power through the WIPS both knitting and blogging/podcasting. I have a lot of yarn and recording and would like to put to good use, but I find it hard to focus these days.

So… what I want to let you know is that I will be back as soon as I have the energy, and when I get back here is what to expect:

  • WWKIP 2008
  • NENA
  • MSKR 2008
  • PODCAMP

See you around the neighborhood…

WWKIP Boston 2008 : Copley Square 10-1.5

I wish I had something really clever to write today about where I have been and what I have been up to. I wish I could tell you that I have had nothing but cool knitting stuff in my life. But, reality is a cruel master and I have been trapped under mycomputer working for the man and have not had a lot of time to spare. But I hope to get out and hang with some of you this Saturday…

I will be heading out to Copley Square Saturday morning to do a little Knitting in public and I hope that you all will be joining me. I will be out from 10:00am until 1ish. I will also be distirbuting a little yarn crawl for those of you who want to run around afterward. Sadly, I cannot hang out afterward due to a previous enagement.

Based on the conversation on ravelry I am really excited about the number of new people I will meet this year. ok.. back to the paying gig..

ADDED
I put together a google map for you gals/guys who are looking for the event.

Man Handeled

The guys are knitting

I would like to report on the wonderful weekend I had at the Men’s Spring Knitting Retreat at Easton Mountain, but I find myself at a loss for words.

Everything went as well as expected, even though Alasdair couldn’t make it up. The guys were nice, the food was good, and the fiber was plentiful.

I did some recording, so there will be a show that shares some of this stuff. For now just enjoy the photo. It really says a thousand words about how the weekend unfolded.

iapm51:MA Sheep & Wool 2008

Today’s show is all about the Massachusetts Sheep and Woolcraft Show. My three Guest will be participating in the event which happens over memorial day weekend in Cummington, MA. It’s a great show and if you are in the new england or New York area it is a great way to spend the day. My punkin and I had such a great time last year that I offered to help promote the show this year. I am glad I did, it has made for a great chance to meet some new people and catch up with friends. I hope you enjoy the podcast and come out to Cummington to check out the sheep show.

In this episode I speak with Gale Zucker one of the authors of Shear Spirit. She has traveled to many farms and has brought back the stories and photos of people living their passions. She will be signing books on Sunday morning at the Botanical Shades booth.

My second guest, Andrea Colyer, is one of the owners of Greenwood Hill Farm. You may remember Andrea from episode 33. We catch up a little and talk about the MA Sheep show. I also gush about how much I love the Merino yarn that she makes on her farm.

My final guest, Louise Walsh, of Evergreen Farm shares her stories about being in the small and fuzzy business. She is a crafty and powerful force in the bunny business and has a lot to tell us about how wonderful the community at the MA sheep and wool is.

Thanks to all the vendors who were willing to be on the show. I hope that we get to visit in the future in person.

When the sheep come home

hey… you… you with the teeth. You still reading/listening to this blog. Well… It’s good to see that you are still there. Sometimes I forget you are there because I get wrapped up in work and life and blah… blah… blah… you get the idea.

Anyhow, I wanted to let you know that this here podcaster is not taking a break and that there are more shows on the way. It has just been a while since I had time to rub together to put a show out.

This weekend my mother is coming up for our pseudo annual trip to NH Sheep and Wool. I look forward to showing her all the progress I have made on her sweater, it’s only taken three years.

We will put together a show with interviews that I did at NENA last week.

Next week I am going to put out a second episode in the middle of the week about the MA Sheep and Wool. I really enjoy going to that show with my pumkin wife and am going to try and share with you a little pre-show goodness.

I haven’t forgotten about you and I am not podfagding (please it’s been less than a month).

Also, if I owe you an email… sorry… can’t get to it.. I will catch up in June, I promise… :)
