taking the week off

I’m proud of the recent consistancy to the show. But I need a week off.

Soon I will be winding down a bit for the summer, perhaps an every other week schedule will come into play again. we’ll see.

In the mean time… I am starting a summer hope chest knit along… so if any of you artsy people in the crowd feel like making some badges please post them on your blog and let me know about them in the comment notes.

iapm50:Baby Boogy

First, many thanks to my special guest/co-host Susan B. Anderson. She is the wonderful author of Itty Bitty Hats and Itty Bitty Nursery. She is also one of the first people in the knitting world to trust me with a book review, even after listening to the show. I love her books and can’t get enough of them.

Susan joins me via phone/skype and Alasdair mans the sound board for me. (My apologize for the sound, but I tried my best…) Alasdair also is the voice of the chat room who joined durring the live… live… live… recording.

Other things that came up during the show:
Viking Chicken Hat
Lucinda Guy
Roo Designs
Debbie Bliss
Elizabeth Zimmerman
Susan’s Booties
Saartje Booties
Candi Jensen
Erika Knight
The Knitted Farmyard
World of Knitted toys

Finally I would also like to thank Hapto for turning me onto her sister’s new CD, go and check it out. I played The Bird Song and C’est Noye from her new album Chameleon by Victoria Vox, Hapto’s sister.

one more thing… I am going to start a summer hope chest knit a long, I will put up some notes on this in the coming weeks

Passover Break

FYI episode 50 live, went well. I am running behind in putting the show up because I have had some passover events the last couple of nights. I will get the show up ASAP. It’s really good and my guest Susan B. Anderson was awesome.

The Live show take 3

OK… so I like the live show format. Really, I just like having you all around while I put the show together. It makes it a hell of a lot more fun. Also, I like chatting with people in the music breaks.

With all that said I want to remind everyone that I will be having another live show for:

EPISODE 50
SUNDAY APRIL 20TH
11:00AM EST
HTTP://LIVE.YAHOO.COM/ITSAPURLMAN

This show will be co-hosted by my super cool guest about a topic I think many of you know is comming (listen to my last show for more info). There will be a live drawing for people who are a part of the audience as well as a 50th episode drawing for people who have either google mapped their LYS (see last two shows) or sent in suggestions for a clips show (which is on hold because it’s even herder to piece together than I thought.

In the future I think I will start to do live shows every tenth episode. If we are lucky I will be able to do a live show with an actual live audience some day, which will mean total mayhem.

Looking forward to another 50 epsodes with all of you, if I get to 100 we will have to have a part in Boston which includes a massive fiber crawl. I can’t wait… can you…

iapm49:Dorchester

On today’s show I sit down with Annissa at Stitch House Dorchester. Her store is the newest kid on the block in Boston. It’s a great space and a lot closer than I thought.

The song I played is Don’t Loose Touch by Against Me.

Finally, I am working with others on starting a Friday night knitting guild in Boston and we need space… if you work at a local college or large corporation near a T stop and can provide some space, please email me at podcast at itsapurlman dot com.

iapm48:Sheep and Goat Retirment Home

This episode is about Google Maps and Martha’s Vineyard Fiber Farm. Susan, from Martha’s Vineyard Fiber Farm, explains how a sheep CSA works and tells us about the vibrant agricultural community on the Vineyard. Also,

Go to the Inaugural:

Martha’s Vineyard Fiber Fest
April 19, 2008
at the New Ag Hall in W. Tisbury
The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you are doing a day trip from Boston or other points in Massachusetts my friend Alanna is organizing a trip. There is also a weekend package if you are interested that can be found on the fiber festival website.

I am still collecting entries for the 50 episode drawing which will now include fun toys donated by my friend Hapto, some books, and some fiber…. To add yourself to the entries please comment on this episode letting me know when you have added a review to Google Maps for your LYS (I will believe you because fiber people are an honorable sort, right). If you would like to learn more about how to do the Google map edit thing please check out the Google Tutorial(it’s not as cool as my demo, but it will do).

Finally, if you would like to record an intro for my 50th episode, or record your version of the purl man song I would be happy to play it on the 50th episode. Please send it to me at podcast[at]itsapurlman[dot]com.

oh yeah…

WWKIP June 14 2008

So… who’s up for another WWKIP in Boston?

Copley was a good space last year, perhaps we can try doing it there again this year, hopefully the weather will be nice and we can all be outside instead of in the food court, but the food court did have food… yum…

Perhaps this year we can man a learn to knit table as well?

Perhaps we can knit in public in the morning and then have an afternoon yarn crawl? Plenty of places down town and then on the red line?

I will start a poll if people leave comments saying that any of this would be something they would like to do.

Let me know what you think Boston.

Won’t you wear a sweater day

Just found out about this today and am feeling a bit ill…. so this, 15minutes prior, is the frist I can get to letting you know about it.

Needless to say, I love Mr. Rogers. Good guy, all around… Protected children and adults in the fabled betamax supreme court hearings.
